A regression framework to head-circumference delineation from US fetal images

چکیده

• Head-circumference (HC) has an important role in the evaluation of fetal growth. We propose automatic algorithm to directly delineate HC US images. The approach is based on a regression CNN trained with distance field. A mean absolute difference = 1.9 mm was obtained testing HC18 Challenge dataset. Measuring head-circumference length from ultrasound (US) images crucial clinical task assess fetus To lower intra- and inter-operator variability measuring, several computer-assisted solutions have been proposed years. Recently, large number deep-learning approaches addressing problem delineation through segmentation whole head via convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Since edge-delineation problem, we different strategy CNNs. framework consists region-proposal for localization centering, accurately HC. first exploiting transfer learning, while training fields. tested dataset, which 999 335 1.90 ( ± 1.76) Dice similarity coefficient 97.75 1.32) % were achieved, overcoming literature. experimental results showed effectiveness framework, proving its potential supporting clinicians during practice.

Automatic Estimation of Fetal Abdominal Circumference from Ultrasound Images

Ultrasound diagnosis is routinely used in obstetrics and gynecology for fetal biometry, and owing to its timeconsuming process, there has been a great demand for automatic estimation. However, the automated analysis of ultrasound images is complicated because they are patient-specific, operatordependent, and machine-specific. Among various types of fetal biometry, the accurate estimation of abd...

Fetal biparietal diameter, head circumference, abdominal circumference and femur length. A comparison by race and sex.

Biparietal diameter (BPD), head circumference (HC), abdominal circumference (AC) and femur length (FL) were compared by race and sex in 5,405 ultrasound examinations done on 2,831 women. Black fetuses had significantly longer FL than white fetuses; male fetuses had larger BPD, HC and AC than females. The differences in BPD, HC and AC correlated with the different birth weights observed between ...

Proceedings of Challenge US: Biometric Measurements from Fetal Ultrasound Images

Our fully automatic method to compute the biparietal diameter (BPD) and occipitofrontal diameter (OFD) from fetal ultrasound images is based on fitting an ellipse modelling the head contour of the fetus to ultrasound images. This is achieved by minimizing a cost function with respect to the parameters of the ellipse using a global multiscale multistart Nelder-Mead algorithm.

Fetal head circumference growth in children with specific language impairment.

OBJECTIVE To characterise fetal brain growth in children with specific language impairment (SLI). DESIGN A nested case-control study. SETTING Perth, Western Australia. PARTICIPANTS Thirty children meeting criteria for SLI at age 10 years were individually matched with a typically developing comparison child on sex, non-verbal ability, fetal gestational age, maternal age at conception, smo...

Fetal head circumference, operative delivery, and fetal outcomes: a multi-ethnic population-based cohort study

BACKGROUND Operative delivery procedures, such as primary cesarean section, vacuum-assisted, and forceps-assisted vaginal delivery increase maternal and fetal morbidity, and the cost of care. We evaluated whether large fetal head circumference (FHC) independently increases risk of such interventions, as well as fetal distress or low Apgar score, in anatomically normal infants. METHODS We cond...
